Yesterday, Gettys Student Council was excited to welcome Easley Combined Utilities for our weekly High Fives with Heroes!
Our students loved getting to meet some of the people who work behind the scenes—and out in the middle of storms!—to keep our community running.
The Combined Utilities crew also handed out rubber duckies to our students. Did those ducks temporarily drive the teachers a little crazy? Absolutely. Did the kids LOVE them? Also absolutely. 🦆🦆🦆

Following 13 years of leadership, Superintendent Dr. Danny Merck will conclude his service at the end of the 2026–2027 school year. With advance planning, the Board of Trustees is beginning the search process now to support a thoughtful and seamless transition.
The search will be guided by our Innovate ’28 Strategic Plan and shaped by input from the people who know and care about SDPC — our students, employees, families, and Pickens County community.

The Board of Trustees, in partnership with the South Carolina School Boards Association, is gathering community input to help identify the qualities, experience, and leadership priorities that should guide the search for SDPC’s next superintendent.

We celebrate the amazing individuals behind the scenes who keep our students fueled and ready to learn each day. From early mornings to busy lunch lines, our cafeteria staff works tirelessly to serve meals with care, kindness, and a smile.

There will be staff in the car line and bus line for students to drop their $1 in the bucket and receive a sticker. Students must be wearing their sticker in order to wear their pajama.

Our Make-up Band Instrument tryouts are this afternoon at 4pm for any rising 6th grader still needing to choose their instrument.
Did you know that not all school districts have teacher librarians? We are so fortunate to have teacher librarians in our schools. Thank you to Mrs. Brady, our teacher librarian, for serving all students at Gettys Middle School.
