The overall band program has received 8 Superior ratings at SC Concert Performance Assessment since 2014, 7 of those With Distinction, and has also received the SC Band Directors Association’s Outstanding Performance Award in 2016, 2017, and 2018. We also have an active jazz band, which performed at the SC Jazz Ensemble Performance Assessment in 2016 and 2017.

While we are fortunate to have many musical accolades, our main objective is to build fantastic future citizens through the concepts found in instrumental music. These concepts include ideals of personal responsibility, integrity, commitment, cooperation, and leadership. We look forward to working with all of our students to build great musicians, but even better people.

The band program at Gettys Middle School is currently under the direction of Betsy Myers and Hunter Hiland.
