This year’s Teacher of the Year has the respect and admiration of students, parents, and co-workers. She demonstrates a willingness to devote time and energy to activities which result in improved instruction for children. She makes contributions to the field of education by conducting professional development and assisting fellow teachers in their learning.
Our teacher of the year is a leader in her grade level, in her department and with her colleagues. She dedicates much work and time to support Gettys Middle School. Whether it is working to develop the school yearbook for our student body through her Yearbook Staff or coordinating an 8th grade field trip or dance, this teacher of the year does it all! She teaches two courses for us: English One Honors and 8th grade English. She has supported future teachers in our profession with her support of the EHS Teacher Cadet Program. One of her colleagues said, “This teacher does not wait until someone asks her to do something. She sees a need and jumps right in to do what she can. Always upbeat, she is inspiring and has great relationships with her colleagues and students. She is a positive teacher leader and is so deserving of this honor.”
