Principal's Message
Gettys Middle School is helping all students develop the World Class Skills of the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate by beginning each day at Gettys Middle School with a student representative reading out our mission statement to all students and teachers. The statement reads, “At Gettys, we RISE to greatness by engaging today to empower tomorrow.” In support of this mission statement, our faculty and staff are committed to providing engaging learning experiences for students each day that equip them with the knowledge, skills, and strength of character needed to be successful in high school and beyond.
Academic Achievements
Our commitment to academic excellence remains unwavering. This year, our students have continued to demonstrate outstanding performance across all subjects. Standardized test scores have shown consistent improvement, and our innovative teaching methods and dedicated faculty have played a significant role in this progress. Students are developing the skills to be leaders in their school and community, preparing them for future success.
Athletic Excellence
One of the most exciting highlights of the year is our volleyball team's incredible achievement. The Gettys Middle School volleyball team has once again proven their dominance by securing the title of Region Champions for the second consecutive year. Their dedication, teamwork, and hard work have set a high standard for athletic excellence in our school.
Fine Arts Program Highlights
Our fine arts programs have also enjoyed a year filled with remarkable performances and accolades. The orchestra has participated in various concerts and events, earning high ratings and trophies at competitions. Notable achievements include an Excellent rating at the Concert Performance Assessment and multiple students earning Superior ratings at the Solo & Ensemble Festival. Our students performed at significant events such as honoring veterans, celebrating Black History Month, and participating in a workshop at Universal.
Art Program Achievements
Our art students have also achieved notable success this year, earning top awards and recognition at various regional and county competitions. They have excelled in categories such as 2D and 3D design, drawing, and painting. One notable artwork was selected to be displayed at the Tri-County Technical College Easley Campus for the next year, highlighting the exceptional talent within our student body.
Robotics Team Achievements
Our robotics team has had an extraordinary year, showcasing their engineering and problem-solving skills. They have won several regional competitions, displaying impressive teamwork and innovation. Their success has culminated in qualifying for the world championships, a testament to their dedication and excellence in STEM.
Community Involvement and Events
This year, Gettys Middle School has strengthened its ties with the community through various events and initiatives. Our school has hosted numerous events that have brought together students, parents, and community members, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose.
